Group Biographies
Keith Waddell -Sings the lead and he is the manager of HGQ, he is the youngest of three sons born to a Church of God minister, Paul E Waddell. Keith has been singing in church since he was a boy, watching his mother and oldest brother Gary ministering in gospel music, gave Keith a strong desire to sing. Keith's mother taught him at an early age and he began singing with his family, the Waddell's, as the tenor. Keith and his brother went on to sing in other groups such as the Happy Gentiles, the Liberty Boys Quartet, and the Canaanland Boys. The brothers were later joined by their sister Lisa to form another version of the Waddell family and sang as a trio until Gary was called to preach. As the Lord moved on Keith's life, he formed Holy Ground Quartet and began singing with his sister Lisa and her husband David, and wife Melinda. Keith's greatest desire is to minister through testimony and song as he fulfills the calling that God has placed on his life.
Melinda Waddell -Sings alto for HGQ. Her love for gospel music has been strong since childhood. As a young girl, Melinda sang with her mother and sister, Jean and Loretta Hilton, in Church. In time, the Hilton family became members of the Norwood Church of God where Keith's father was the pastor. 17years later, Melinda and Keith were married and now have two children Paul & Breanna. Melinda believes the Lord has placed her in this ministry therefore she is dedicated and committed to giving it her all. When she sings Melinda sincerely desires for souls to feel the anointing of God flow through her and into their hearts.
Lisa Smith- started singing when she was 4 years old. Her Dad was a Preacher all of her life so she grew up in Church. She always had a love for singing. When she was 17 she started singing with The River City Trio, and later in years she helped start a group with her Brother and Sister in Law which is now called Holy Ground. Lisa is the soprano singer and has written several songs for Holy Ground such as it’s my right, that’s My Child and many more. Lisa has 2 beautiful children (Trent and Rachel) and a Step daughter (Meghan) and 2 Grand Kids (Lacie and Kylee) Lisa loves to sing any time she gets the chance. She loves God and her Family with all of her heart.
David Smith- has been singing Gospel music since he was very young. His Mother had a group from Jacksonville, Fl called The Corinthians Quartet. David played the bass guitar for them, and later decided to give singing a try. David then started singing with the Gospel Servants, and later in years he continued singing with other groups such as The Cannanland Boys and now Holy Ground. David loves the Lord and loves singing with his Family. David has a daughter named Meghan and 2 step children Trent and Rachel. He also has 2 Grand Kids (Lacie and Kylee)
